News: Anita Knotts, SVP Receives Diversity & Inclusion Award

24 September 2019

Anita Knotts, Senior Vice President, was honored on September 24 by InvestmentNews as a winner of the publication’s 2019 Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Awards.

The InvestmentNews awards program recognizes individuals who inspire others from diverse backgrounds to join, flourish and bring their true selves to work in the financial services industry. Furthermore, it aims to tell the story of individuals and firms who have used their success, leadership skills and willingness to implement and advocate for diversity and inclusion.

Anita won in the “See It, Be It Role Model Category.” In InvestmentNews’ feature on her, the publication reports:

In life, it’s how you approach challenges that matters, said Anita Knotts, who immigrated from India as a small child.

“I was bullied when I was a teenager, but it teaches you how to stand up for yourself,” she said. “It’s good preparation for an industry like this. I feel like I can walk into any room with confidence.”

As a leader and a role model, Ms. Knotts wants to impart that confidence to other women, and has launched two initiatives with that goal in mind.

The two initiatives InvestmentNews hails are Calamos Wealth Management’s Women & Wealth Initiative, which Anita founded in 2012, and the Women’s Initiative Network (WIN), which she established in 2016 to help women in their career journeys. WIN is a grassroots program with the goal of creating a forum, a safe place, to share ideas about being a women navigating in a male dominated sphere.

Anita passionately promotes the Financial Services industry as a great career choice for women—including on the front lines and in the most senior level positions. She leads by example, having established herself as a Wealth Advisor early in her career and now helping shape the firm’s culture while also continuing to serve clients as Sr. Vice President.
